Dear Friends,

Hello and welcome! We’re excited to bring everyone up to speed on the adventure of raising a Rockies-based seed stage tech investment fund. There’s been a flurry of entrepreneurial activity in the mile-high region in 2017, and we’ll share some of that with you below. This monthly journal is just one step in formalizing our communication with you as we progress.

On the fund raising front, we are already 75% of the way to our targeted first close after five months on the trail. We expect a Fall 2017 first close in the $7-8 million range, and then additional closings over the following twelve months to lock in the final amount. We’ve met the most amazing people during this journey, most being oil & gas executives and professionals who welcome this opportunity to diversify and invest in interesting technology alongside other like-minded investors.

As we approach our first close, we’re working hand-in-hand with amazing entrepreneurs, deal flow friends, partner investors, and advisers, which enables us to see the very best early stage deals in the Rocky Mountain region. We are currently working closely with and doing diligence on six startups we find particularly intriguing. When we do our first close and capital call, we hope to invest in one to two companies right away.

June and July have been very busy.  We’ve seen a lot of new deals come into our pipeline from accelerators, inbound requests, and community engagement through Boulder Startup Week. We are spending more and more time with entrepreneurs as we get closer to our first close.
